link's photos are of an era that has slipped by, both in subject matter and technique.
shooting on 4x5 sheet film with ginormous exploding flashbulb-loaded light arrays, link managed to capture people and trains in such a candid manner, it's hard to believe photoshop didn't exist then (let alone personal computers). he did however perform the odd 'cut and paste', as in the famous 'hot shot' photo of a drive-in cinema (see below). the fighter plane onscreen was in the movie, but it was stripped into the print after exposure.
