- there's a wonderfully meandering park at the top of a hill overlooking the smoggy skyline of kunming. what is predominantly a hideout for the local majiang crowd, with a bit of old school minstrelling and love-sneaking mixed in, 'tan hua si gong yuan' (昙华寺公园) was also a welcome detour off the tourist track with a distinct absence of that 'caution: fresh paint' look of a refaced beijing hutong - which is precisely where its charm lay.
