- this is literally one of the first clicks from our recent 'road' trip. it seemed auspicious to be under this immense and intricate wooden portal at the time, but in fact the meaning of 'zhong' (忠) is loyalty, or fidelity, in this case referring to young widows with respect to their recently departed. anyway, i'm willing to overlook the misogynistic implications of this thing for its sheer splendour, especially after surviving a few bus rides in the following days that could have had kitty running circles between its posts.
