this is an old image from an experiment in camera jiggle that became the decisive moment for my (nearly complete) conversion to digital. i was still a staunch silver halide hold out when i shot this with an 'expendable' sony point and shoot, however the thought of capturing endless images at zero cost proved to be too much of a temptation.
note: this isn't an instagram filter or photoshopped - this is straight out of the camera by shaking the body in front of a still subject whilst judiciously clicking the shutter.

it seems i've fallen off the blog wagon. life has its priorities - family, work, eating,.. downton abbey and, best intentions notwithstanding, it hasn't left a whole lot of time for posting here. anyway, speaking of period pieces, here's something that isn't so much deliberate and exacting reproductions of vintage chinese poster ads as it is a 'before and after' experiment with a few non-modelling models (i included the 'befores' below).
qipao's were courtesy of dadinkowa who craft some truly lovely outfits. for any photo geeks out there, these images were shot with a tiny panasonic GF1 - the little camera that could.
