though not exactly the garden of eden, i did manage to pick some figs in the back of our building today and nostalgia for an old stomping ground resurfaced - few things are more divine and succulent than a moroccan fig in season. still, these anemic chinese varieties are satisfying the indulgence.
this photo is from rambles through the sweltering south of the maghreb where the fruit is as enchanting as the people.
